This weekend I had the chance to go with a few of the UPenn residents working at Princess Marina Hospital to Madikwe Game Reserve just across the border in South Africa. In short, it was absolutely incredible!

We stayed for two nights at Buffalo Ridge Lodge, and were able to go on four different game drives–two in the early morning and two at dusk. On the drives we were able to drive right up to rhinos, elephants, lions, baboons, impala, giraffe, zebras, buffalo, and we even spotted a leopard!

Between excursions, we relaxed back at the lodge, which was wonderful given how chaotic the past few weeks have been. We kicked back at the pool, enjoyed the beautiful scenery, and ate some delicious South African cuisine (including ostrich!).
